ABOUT THE PROJECT
What is GreenTruth Digital Lab?
GreenTruth Digital Lab is a youth-focused digital and environmental literacy initiative designed to help young people navigate environmental information online. The project develops practical skills to recognise misinformation, identify greenwashing, evaluate sources and evidence, verify digital content and communicate environmental information responsibly.
DIGITAL LITERACY
Question what you see.
ENVIRONMENTAL LITERACY
Understand environmental claims.
CIVIC PARTICIPATION
Turn verified information into responsible action.
WHY GREENTRUTH?
Not Everything Green Online Is True.
Young people encounter environmental information every day through social media, videos, advertisements, news platforms and AI-generated content. But viral does not always mean reliable.
MISINFORMATION
False or inaccurate environmental information can spread quickly online.
MISSING CONTEXT
Real facts, statistics and images can become misleading when important context is removed.
GREENWASHING
Environmental language and imagery can create a greener impression than the evidence supports.
AI-GENERATED INFORMATION
AI can support learning, but generated answers may contain errors, missing context or unreliable references.
THE SOLUTION IS NOT TO DISTRUST EVERYTHING.
THE SOLUTION IS TO LEARN HOW TO VERIFY.
EVIDENCE-BASED DESIGN
Built Around Young People’s Needs
GreenTruth Digital Lab began with a needs assessment exploring how young people encounter, evaluate and respond to environmental information online.
The findings informed the content, learning methods and practical resources developed for the project.
